NFL Draft Recap: Why the Browns and Giants Made Mistakes With Their First Round Selections

Listen below to an excerpt from our weekly Check Down radio broadcast, which streams live on Tuesday mornings at 8:00 on 91.1 WSPN and Instagram Live (@CheckDownSports).

0:25   Fronte: “The Browns made a BIG mistake by taking Baker over Sam Darnold.”

2:00   Mando: “This may be a no-win situation for the Browns anyway…the notable high selections who have succeeded in recent memory (i.e. Deshaun Watson, Carson Wentz, Russell Wilson) have joined teams that were either equipped with talent or had emerging talent…and I’m worried that Mayfield is in a terrible situation

3:55   Fronte is higher on Cleveland’s supporting cast than Mando is

8:27   Mando: “The Giants passed on an opportunity to take a future All-Pro quarterback — why do they have this much faith in Eli Manning?”

9:30   Mando: “If you hit on a high quarterback selection in the draft, you can be in Super Bowl contention for the next 3-5 years — just look at the Eagles with Wentz…and look at how the Seahawks won a Super Bowl with Russell Wilson making under one million dollars!”

14:30   Fronte explains why he’s excited about Sam Darnold — but will he start week one?
